Pair is a digital mental health platform designed to make it easier for people to find a psychologist based on their clinical and practical fit, as well as identity preferences. We combine a curated clinical directory with an intelligent match-making questionnaire to help reduce the overwhelm that many people experience when searching for mental health support. Our aim is to support more efficient, appropriate, and human-centred connections between clinicians and people seeking care. Importantly, Pair is a platform that facilitates connections, and does not provide therapy or clinical services.

We are currently in a mental health crisis, and over half of all people seeking mental health support report giving up their search before ever contacting a psychologist. Many complain that the search process feels confusing, time-consuming and uncertain. Existing directories are largely unknown to the general public, are not designed with clinical or user experience in mind, and can present hundreds of profiles without meaningful guidance on who may be most appropriate. Additionally, many do not consider users' identity preferences which can play an important role in supporting a strong therapeutic relationship. At the same time, many clinicians have limited time to actively market their practice or attract referrals that align closely with their areas of expertise.

Pair supports connections through two complementary pathways: Curated Directory - Users can browse clinician profiles directly, similar to a traditional directory, but with intuitive, smart filters. Guided Matching - Our matching process was developed by psychologists and is grounded in research on the factors that contribute to a strong therapeutic relationship. An individual's responses to a short questionnaire are considered alongside evidence-informed frameworks to identify psychologists whose skills, experience, and therapeutic approach are most likely to be a good fit. Users complete a brief questionnaire, after which Pair suggests three clinicians based on: Clinical fit (e.g., area of specialty, therapy type, etc.), Practical factors (e.g., location, after hours availability, etc.), and Identity factors (e.g., culture, faith, etc., where specified by user).

The subscription model offers multiple tiers, each with increasing benefits for psychologists. Higher tiers provide access to a greater pool of potential client matches, enhanced visibility on our home page, and more detailed data insights. This allows psychologists to optimise referrals, understand trends, and tailor their practice growth using meaningful, evidence-informed analytics.

Yes. You can update your profile at any time, including adding specialties, refining your therapeutic approaches, or changing availability. Keeping your information current ensures you appear in searches and matches for clients you're best suited to support, improving referral quality and alignment with your clinical expertise.

You can pause your profile by marking that you're not currently taking clients. This hides you from the questionnaire but keeps you visible in the clinical directory, allowing individuals to search for you and join your waitlist if you have one. Your subscription cost will also reduce. If you cancel entirely, your profile and subscription end, and you'd need to recreate your profile from the beginning to rejoin Pair.

On your profile, your email and phone number (if provided) are visible. Individuals and GPs can contact you via the Pair email function, which sends messages directly to your email. They can also call you directly if they prefer, giving multiple convenient and accessible ways to connect with you.

Pair offers the option to include your faith, cultural background, and LGBTQIA+ community based on research showing these factors can help individuals feel more understood and supported when finding the right psychologist. These fields are optional, respecting your privacy. Your information will only appear on your profile if you choose, but you can still be found through the questionnaire or filtered directory searches. This approach balances personal connection with confidentiality.
